Nursery Progress

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

The nursery is slowly but surely coming together.  The grand vision isn’t complete.  I’ve still got mobiles to create, shelves to hang, and general decorating to be done.  But a few parts are really starting to feel like baby’s new home.  Here’s a few close-up snap shots of how things are coming together…

The rocking chair [...]

welcome to baby land

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

So we are eagerly awaiting our little ones arrival. Any day now!! I had grand ideas on what I wanted her nursery to look like. But I settled on vintage birds, trees, wings and such…very baby but also magical. I have more ideas like including vintage story books in frames. I wanted to mix the [...]

the Installation

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

With the show, the space I was most excited about was the wall installation.  I definitely had some ideas and pre-planning done before I got to the gallery.  But, the design really took shape once I got into the space and started working.  I had 4 art students from the University that helped me with [...]

New from the Studio

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

The show opening last Friday night was great.  I had such a good experience being on campus, talking with students, and putting the show together.  These are a few of the new pieces I did for the show.  I’m pretty sure this first one is my new favorite.  The background is a mix of IKEA fabric and [...]

Can we make the craziness stop?  I’ve been an art making machine these last several weeks.  I’ve got a solo show opening this Friday night out in West Texas in the town of Abilene.  I’m doing an alumni show in the University Gallery where I did my undergrad.  I’ve got big plans for the space, I [...]

Why I Love the Internet

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

The first thing I do in the morning after I sit down at my desk is open up the Internet and start going through my daily blog reads.  Design*Sponge is always the first on my list.  Yesterday morning I was checking out the sneak peek into the home of Jill Elliott Sones from Fossil.  I was [...]

from the studio

Monday, July 13th, 2009

Finally finished a new painting!  Its about 3×5′ in size.  The painting was a request from my Dad.  I don’t usually do commisions, but for my Dad I’d do anything.  I used a mix of fabrics from my grandmother and some IKEA fabric that I’ve used in my own home.  A lot of the fabrics were [...]

5×7

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

For the last few years I’ve donated to the Arthouse 5×7 Fundraiser.  Artists connected to Texas are asked to create works at the size of 5″ x 7.” The art is then sold anonymously at $100 each.  Its a cool concept and makes for a great show.  The big event was a couple weeks ago, but the [...]
