Gray and Yellow for Baby

By Sarah | October 28, 2009

I’m in love with the idea of a gray, yellow, and black color scheme .

This is such a great translation to a nursery…

We’ve been very fortunate to receive a lot of free furniture pieces for the nursery from our family and friends.  I love dark woods.  So for the pieces that are light wood I’m going to want to paint.  I think of some bright pops of color accenting off gray walls in the room would be pretty cool.  How cute would hot pink accents be for a girl…

I like how pink works in these nurseries with the greys and yellows.  Its “girly” without being over the top.  I can’t handle a pretty pretty princess all pink room at this point.

And for a boy I could always go for the blue, green, and orange accents off grayed down walls.  I feel like this may be a way to have a cool boys room without being boxed in by the limited number of “boy” themes.

And this is all  just one line of color thought.  I have so many more circling my brain.  What do you think, any favorites?  Could it really work for a boy or  a girl?

I just saw an article about this…..somewhere…. if I see it again I will link it to you. Anyway, the article was saying that dark rich colors work really well for either boys or girls - colors like plum or emerald green. Coupled with light-medium gray walls and a few bright accents (lime green or orange!!) would be so cool…classic but fun and so easy to go retro or modern or almost anything you want.

    In my opinion. =)

    Congratulations, by the way.
