from the studio

Finally finished a new painting! Its about 3×5′ in size. The painting was a request from my Dad. I don’t usually do commisions, but for my Dad I’d do anything. I used a mix of fabrics from my grandmother and some IKEA fabric that I’ve used in my own home. A lot of the fabrics were painted out but I love the few places where they show through the paint. The main color is Glidden’s “warm grey flannel.” I love how the spray color pops off it. I was thinking about my grandparents through the whole process of this piece…her fabrics and animals that I associate with him…the deer and cow. Then I work with the elements and everything gets all mixed up and ambiguous and opens into a new world.

And heres a few shots of my materials in process. Basically my house and studio become a mess and I love it.
